A very personal connection
In 2014, aged 34, Letitia Linke was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The mother of two young boys has been fighting the disease for the past two years, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment.
Letitia is passionate about educating women about the signs and symptoms of the disease and raising funds for more research.
Coordinated by Letitia and her committee, the Adelaide Silver Style Cocktail Party 2016 is set to be a fun night full of quality food, wine and entertainment—all to raise funds in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Funds raised will help the OCRF with:
- Developing and implementing an early detection program for ovarian cancer.
- Improving the mortality rate, management and long-term survival of women with ovarian cancer
- Gaining a fundamental understanding of the causes of ovarian cancer.

About the OCRF
The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation is one of Australia’s pre-eminent bodies supporting ovarian cancer research. Their goal is to raise awareness and vital funds for the development of an early detection test that will save women’s lives.
Ovarian cancer is the most common cause of death from a gynaecological cancer in Australia. Worldwide almost a quarter of a million women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year and it is responsible for almost 150,000 deaths annually. Ovarian cancer due to lack of specific early signs is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage when a cure is difficult to achieve.
The main goal of the OCRF is to improve the survival of women affected by ovarian cancer. This will be achieved by development of an early detection program, which is the focus of much of the fundraising activities of the OCRF. Another important task of the OCRF is to raise community awareness of ovarian cancer.
We still don’t have a fundamental understanding of the cause of this disease, an early detection program, or an understanding of how we can improve long-term survival rates. The funds raised by the Adelaide Silver Style Frocktober Lunch 2017 will go directly towards the OCRF’s research in these critical areas.
